The Articulate Surface, is a survey of contemporary architecture projects from around the world that employ contemporary fabrication technology to create expressive articulations of buildings and ornament in architecture. The projects and essays cover the renewed interests in exploring ornament and it's relationship to function, decoration, structure and the envelope, volume and surface. The book catalogs the projects through a series of methodological and production headings: applied, perforated/cut, layered, formed/cast, and stacked/tiled.

The Articulate Surface was edited by Ben Pell, assisted by Isaiah King. Layout and graphic design by Miriam Bussmann, Berlin.
